Trying a new way of sketching birds after watching a free class on Ivy Newport's site. I'm sorry, I forgot the teacher's name, but it was about blocking and blacking in the shapes with a charcoal pencil. I used a Pinterest photo for reference, and I looked at crows and ravens both. Since I've posted I can see some areas that need darker marks, and I forgot to give him an eye. No worries! Just playing and learning. Hopefully, I'll do better on the next one!
I'm planning to use some of these sketches in a couple of my handmade journal courses waiting in the wings! I will either make copies of the ones in my sketchbook or sketch newer better ones directly on the journal pages/papers. One course is "The Magpie's Nest", on Jeanne Oliver's site, so I will also be practicing magpie sketches.
