First Spring Field Trip Around the Farm 2020-Part 1-"Mudding" on our 50th Wedding Anniversary!
So, nobody thought Jim and I would live together a year when we got married in 1970 (and it hasn't all been easy), but as of yesterday (Friday), and by the grace of God, we've made it 50 years together. We didn't have a big celebration. We're just grateful to still be here together. Also, llike many of you, we're self isolating and staying at home because of the Coronavirus pandemic. It was such a beautiful day that we decided to take the side by side for a ride around the farm, despite the mud from all the rain we had at the first of the week. We got all the way down to Papa's pond with no problem, but crossed the drainage ditch, which we practically had to jump, and landed in a mud puddle that we couldn't get out of. No, I wasn't driving! After much trying and Jim being covered in mud from trying to push while I floor boarded the gas, he walked the half mile back to the house, through the muddy rough fields, and got the tractor to pull Ole Yeller out. I stayed, sitting in the sun, amidst the thorns and cedar trees, because it was too muddy and slick to risk falling. He left me the gun, in case of wild animals or something. Anyway, he and the tractor pulled me out of the mud hole, and I followed him back to the house. Enough adventure for one day! He had to pull of his muddy clothes at the door and shower right away. I didn't have much mud on me, and am blistered some, but I had to shower the dust and pollen off. Anyway, we made it back to the house safe and sound, thank the Lord. Who knew that on our 50th anniversary we'd go mudding together, even if it was inadvertantly! It was a good day!
