#12 is a square of cotton fabric, about 4" x 4", torn from a piece of fabric that I tried out rust transferring on, as are the circle sewn onto the square and and bird wing frazzles. Again, I ironed a piece of craft pellon to the back for body. Not my favorite thing for a backing, but it'll do for now.
The rust pattern formed sort of a bird pattern in the bottom left corner, so that's what I stitched! I had tried cutting a circle from the cloth with my circle paper punch, which was a mistake! It took forever to get the punch pried back apart. This circle "balloon" is the result of that experiment, so I used it here. The wing is a frazzling of rusty threads sewn on with off white perle crochet thread. The bird is DMC embroidery threads, light and dark, and the balloon and string is a pink bamboo crochet thread.
I kept this meditation pretty simple, but it served its purpose and I like it. I don't usually have an interpretation of a piece, whether painted or stitched, when I'm working on it, but many times when I look back at the finished story, I can see what I was feeling or going through at the time that I didn't even realize was coming out onto the canvas or fabric subconsciously.
For instance, right now, I feel like I'm holding on by a thread. Life gets tedious at times. I'm so thankful that the thread I'm holding on to connects to God, and I'm trusting Him to see me through, as He has so many times before.
Who knew that this was the story coming out through my needle and thread? At least, that's my interpretation. You, as a viewer, may have a different interpretation.
