I pinned these scraps together several days ago, but didn't get to stitch any on it for a few days, due to my husband being sick and winding up overnight in a hospital ER. The same night I had a blinding headache and have had sinus problems ever since. We're both feeling better, but still not 100%.
The base is a peach cotton, left over from a dollmaking class, about 4" x 4", ironed onto a piece of pellon for body. The bottom strip is a scrap of cotton fabric with text printed on it, the teal pieces are a cotton batik , and the triangle is a light terra cotta cotton print.
In the first session, I did the off white stitching on the texted bottom strip with perle cotton crochet thread. In the second session, I used DMC embroidery thread on the rest, except the pink, and it is bamboo crochet thread.
I finished this piece yesterday evening, trying out some new stitches. Some much needed quiet meditation time, just sitting in the middle of my bed in the silence, letting my needle and thread meander over the pieces, combining them into a whole, held together by the pink scar, signifying the things that tried to kill me, but didn't succeed. Grateful that God has seen fit to see me through all the hard things I've overcome so far in my life journey.
A very enjoyable meditation, holding a piece of my soul...
