More Watercolor Play and Sketchbook Revival

So, I swished some Kuretake watercolor around on this mixed media page in my sketchbook a couple of days ago, much like in the previous post, and let it dry. Only one image has shown itself so far. I haven't sketched it in because I'm thinking I may do a collage on it. I hate to, because I love the colors and the brushstrokes from my waterbrush pen. Or, I may leave it as it is. I finished the sketchbook I've been using, so now I'm filling the last half of my Winsor Newton 7x10" mixed media sketchbook. A little different paper.

I swished some different colors around on the next page the next day and let it dry, and the cat appeared. I liked the cat, but not the background, so a few hours later I took my waterbrush, dipped it in black watercolor, and painted the black marks, because what's the worst that could happen...

When they dried they reminded me of the many roads we travel in life, so I titled it "Roads" and let it be. I like it!

"Roads"

Just for fun, I thought I'd show you how I decorate most of my bought sketchbooks. This is the one I just completed. I eat a lot of bananas and I can't resist keeping the stickers off them and any other sticker I happen across that appeals to me. They usually wind up on the cover of whatever book I'm playing in, sometimes on the pages, because I'm usually eating my banana with my wake-up coffee while I play! Yep, I'm a packrat!

A new thing I'm joining the fun in at the end of the month! I've never participated in the Sketchbook Revival before, although I've seen where other people have over the last few years. I think they're changing it this year from previous years, but since it's my first time I won't know the difference.

What caught my eye was the free two weeks (May 27-June 9) of over 130 classes where you can explore and take as many, or as few, classes as you want. Or, right now, until June 9, you can pay $67 and have access to all the previous years classes from now on, plus a lot of other stuff. Price goes up to $97 at midnight June 9. I haven't decided on the paid VIP yet, but I do know there are some great teachers involved, because I've taken classes from them in other groups. www.sketchbookrevival.com

There are also some videos and a supply list available now for prepping for the classes, such as making room for your art, making your own sketchbooks/journals, etc. You can check it out on the link above or on the sidebar!

Anyway, that's what I'm dabbling in this week, except for my stitch meditations and a few squiggle girls I've sketched in my large square sketchbook from Beales, trying to keep up my sketch a day habit!

Have a great weekend! Do something you love for your soul!
