Day 1, 2 Sketches for February 2025 Plus a Christmas Tree

I'm starting out the new month of February with a couple of crosses and a couple of gifts from one of my crafty best friends.

I bought these two glazed ceramic crosses years ago at Hobby Lobby, and I gave my mom the blue one. It hung by her bed as long as she lived, then I brought it to my home. I sketched the brownish and green on on the 1st with my Zig Writer pen, then on the 2nd I sketched the blue one and added some of my Kuretake watercolors, and I added the line work on the blue one with a Posca paint pen. Not perfect, but they are meant to be! Just practice!

Nothing to do with sketching, but my friend, Lennie (I call her Luce) came and spent the evening with us last Saturday, the 1st, and brought me this little Christmas tree made out of pine cones. She only made two and brought me one. I know it doesn't show up much in the photo. The light wasn't good and she sprayed the tree very dark with glitter added, and pom pom balls. She even added little presents underneath and a star on top, and to top it off she added a miniature coffee cup and saucer under the star to remind me of her, as if I need a reminder. She's been one of my best friends since we were about twelve years old, plus, she married one of my favorite cousins, who has been a best friend since we were toddlers. I can't imagine a life without either of them!

Now to find somewhere to store it until next Christmas so it doesn't get full of dust!

The same friend came after last Thanksgiving and brought us this little wagon full of goodies and a stuffed snowman sitting atop a big container of peppermint candy, which I have become addicted to. The wagon was all wrapped in cellophane with a big green sparkly bow.

It is made from a small cake pan painted red, with sink drain stoppers for wheels and a spatula with a wooden handle for a tongue, and it contained a really good smelling candle, a billfold, a Santa Clause, nail clippers, hand sanitizer, foot cream, a  small massager, a bag of lemon drop candy, and a mesh bath scrub. Isn't it cute? And useful!

She is so creative and doesn't back away from anything she sees and wants to make! Fearless! She's a keeper!

I have day three and four sketches done, but not scanned into my computer yet, and I'm about to do day five sketches in a bit, so it'll be a couple of days before I share those. The days get away from me so fast that I  can't get them posted the same day I do them.

That's it for this post! Stay safe and do something that you love every day!
