Well, I'm still in a creative slump, but I've been looking at a lot of other peoples' creative stuff, watching Skydance's Portrait and Landscape Artists of the Year on Amazon Prime TV, and reading a lot.
It lit a flicker of fire under me, and I did a couple of doodles from some small items across the room in bad light at the first of the week. Then yesterday morning I was looking through my photos in my Kindle reader and decided to do a quick sketch of the donkey we used to have, who was a boy named Doris. Then I came upon Teabiscuit, a grey striped kitten furbaby we had and attempted to sketch her looking up at me. Then I couldn't help but try Bobbie Tail, a cow we also used to have, who was the best listener I ever had. I was about to quit when a photo of myself came up, which I also decided to try. Not a very good likeness, but hubby recognized me right away.
Anyway, it's a wonder that I actually got four sketches done with all the interruptions I had while trying to focus. Hubby was talking to me, I had multiple texts to answer, breakfast to eat, and a few other things distracting me. I finally gave up, and was grateful that I even wanted to sketch, and actually did, despite it all.
I scanned these into my laptop, so don't know why they are ivory colored, because the sketchbook paper is white. Microsoft has messed with their photo editing again and I couldn't get the background white, but I kind of like the ivory color.
So, it's not much, but at least I prodded my creative juices enough to actually do some sketches this week, plus, I read another whole book, and I'm beginning to feel the stirrings of wanting to do some meditation stitching, finish the clay beings I started, and do some art journaling. And I still have 22 + memory questions to answer in my memory book before the year's end for our niece, with the holidays coming on. Yikes!
PS: Add to this week's creative list this blog post! 😊
Stay well, safe, and creative out there! We still have much to be grateful for!
