Happy Town Free Class

Inspired by one of the Twelve Days of Creativity on Ivy Newport's site before Christmas. This is the second class I've done, and I have two more ready to paint. I didn't have time to do the whole twelve, so I just picked out the ones I was most interested in to try.

This one is a class by Yvonne Morrell, called "Happy Town", and it's a mixed media painting. I used her idea for buildings that I'm not familiar with, although mine look nothing like hers. I worked in my larger 8 x 10 sketchbook, and I used acrylics to paint with, some collage, a couple of postage stamps, foam stamps, some "fake" cloud writing, and some gel and Posca pens, among other things. The little dog is a nod to our beloved fur baby that died many years ago, Kibbles.

This was fun, and it is more textured than this photo shows up!

I want to do another one, on a large canvas instead of an 8 x 10 sketchbook, using old buildings from Main Street in my home town when I finish some of my other projects!  I love Yvonne Morrell's work and hope to take one of her whole courses at some point.

For now, I've just finished the third class of the Time Traveler (1920s) course and am finishing up the bonus class. I've also made an armature for a paper clay sculptured character that I'm going to have fun with. Busy with all things art and none to do with cleaning!

Stay safe, well, and creative!
