New Year, New Class, New Earrings, and a Robot Vacuum!

Just watched a free class video on Jeanne Oliver's site by Stephanie Lee on making half-wit bowls out of plaster of paris strips and mix! www.jeanneoliver.com  Look under courses, free classes...

I think I'm going to have to try making at least one! These don't have eyes, but in the video she touches on adding eyes. Plaster is not water proof, but they would make cute holders for stuff on my desk, I think! As soon as I get some plaster strips ordered and in!

I bought a pair of eternal hoop earrings in the seventies and wore them for years, rarely taking them off, and absolutely loved them. Unfortunately, I dropped one down the bathroom sink drain one day and never found it. I have never been able to find another pair like them, and I have tried. A few years ago, I had my ears pierced a second time, and have been wearing studs in them, when I wear earrings, which has become rare since the pandemic hit and we don't go anywhere, but I don't want the piercings to grow up, so I found these eternal hoops online and decided to give them a try.

NOT happy with them and debating on returning them. They are 16mm and 20mm. The 20mm was laying next to a penny in the photo, and since they said the penny was 19mm, the earrings should have been slightly larger than a penny. They are not. Neither pair is as large as I wanted, and they are very thin. In fact the part that goes through the ear is hair thin. The old pair was much thicker and stronger. I am 71 years old, and my hands are not as nimble as they used to be about putting them in, which is why I wanted some that I could just leave in all the time. I haven't had the nerve yet to actually try them on, because I'm afraid they are too delicate to wear all the time, especially when showering or sleeping.

I'm going to put them in later today, and will probably wind up keeping them. I don't know, but we shall see! This is the reason I hate ordering what I can't actually see.

Update on earrings:  I started to put the earrings on, but since I hadn't worn earrings in months, the piercings had started growing up, and I couldn't get the new ones in, so I took an earring with a post and finally got it through all four piercings. Although, it was tedious about fastening the hoops, I got all four through and slept in them. The piercings are a little sore, so I'm keeping alcohol on them, but all four hoops were still in when I got up this morning, which is a good sign. I'm having to get used to the feel of having earrings on again, but I like the looks of these, and they are comfortable. I do wish they were a little stronger than they are, but I've decided to keep them. I just won't be changing earrings very often. :/

And then we have a new Shark ion robot vacuum that our niece and her family gave us for Christmas! We love her! She has been christened Mabel, and besides doing her job, she has been a source of entertainment in watching her try to maneuver around all of our clutter. Ha!

I love that she can vacuum under the bed, and other places, that my back won't let me get to with a regular vacuum anymore. Plus, hubby loves to vacuum now! :D

I know this is a trivial post in light of what all is going on in the world, but sometimes it's good to get our minds off the bad stuff for a while, isn't it? :)

Let's all try to stay as safe, well, and creative as we can. The world needs all the beauty it can get! Prayers for us all!
