26th Stitch Meditation and 2 Watercolor WIPs

We had a death in the family at the first of February, someone very close to us, and I've been in a slump ever since. Not only creatively, but every other way. We have also had tons of rain and dark cloudy days this month, which has contributed to my can't want to attitude.

However, a couple of days ago I pulled a bunch of scraps from my fabric box, and, over the next couple of days pinned eight little pieces together for stitching. My heart wasn't really in it, and I've already changed/added to a few of them. I also just pulled out some yellow thread and started stitching on the first one I picked up, which consists of a base from a discarded linen blouse of mine, a piece of yellow satin from an old pajama top (still love the color), a piece of hand rust dyed cotton, a piece from an old couch cover, DMC yellow floss, and variegated cotton thread (a Christmas gift), which I let do its thing, as I followed it around the piece while meditating. I've actually had three meditations on this piece, but that's ok. I'm beginning to see a glimmer of my muse returning! Yay!

I also made a bigger mess out of two small watercolor paintings that I had started before. I tried to improve them, but made them worse. That's ok too, because it was helping me to get my flow back, and if I can't save them as paintings, I can always cover them with acrylic paint or cut them up for collage, so it's a win-win either way! 😉

Inspired by a free illustration class by Danielle Donaldson on Jeanne Oliver's website (see sidebar). I didn't use her subject though. I made this one up as I went, except for the bunny, as it's been a few weeks since I watched her video.

This one was inspired by a free class by Kate Thompson, also on Jeanne Oliver's website, (see sidebar). I started it a few weeks ago, after watching her video, and have kept re-working it until this is what it looks like now. Still thinking about painting over it with acrylics!

These two may still be works in progress...

Not a good job on any of them, but they served their purpose of getting my mind off things that I worry about and giving my muse a kick in the behind! So, it's all good!
