Sketches from the last three days. So far I'm on tract right now for at least one a day. Yay! Not getting much else done except the sketches, physical therapy, and a nap each day, but at least I'm getting that done.
I did have company the last two days, I examined my blog book closer (different publisher than before), and looked at and read in three new art books on watercolor and drawing that my niece gave me for Christmas. So there's that. Anyway, this is what I have so far for this week.
Sunday I sketched a blue mottled ceramic cat that I bought from a lovely lady, who made ceramics, probably 35-40 years ago, and I still love it. It sits on the window sill over my sink. I also sketched a brown glass bottle of Frankincense & Myrrh oil sitting on the table by my chair.
Monday I sketched a candle sitting across the room on our fireplace mantle. The little wick twirl represents smoke.
This morning I sketched the 8" angel tree topper that I made several years ago. When I took the tree out I didn't want to take her out, so I made her the guardian of my "studio", where she sits on a shelf overlooking my workspace, and I still love her. The head is from a 1950s "dress me" plastic doll that had fallen apart because the rubber bands holding her together had rotted. I could have fixed her, but since I absolutely love her face and hair (straw colored mohair) and the vintage look, I decided to glue the head to an old thread cone left over from my weaving, which gave her a body that would fit down over the tree top branch.
I used a hot glue gun, which I hate, to glue buttons, charms, ribbon embellishments, etc. all over the cone, which I had regretfully painted blue. That wouldn't have mattered if I hadn't lost patience, and gotten frustrated with the glue gun, before I got all the blue covered up. I don't hate the blue, but wish I had painted the cone white instead. In sketching her though, I've decided to finish her dress. Now to dig out my buttons and charms and the dreaded glue gun!
All sketched with my Zig Writer, which is India ink) in my Canson sketchbook, and as you can tell, I am not a neat freak, or even neat. I know what I've done, but it's a puzzle to anyone else!
