The week of Feburary 16, 2021, Tuesday, we got a big winter ice storm in downtown Rabbit Hop, as did most of the United States! We got three plus inches of ice, followed by three or four inches of snow, plus another layer of ice, then snow. I know this isn't much compared to what most of the country got, but for us in southern Tennessee, it's a lot and pretty much paralyzed the country for a week. Thankfully, our area didn't lose electricity or water, and we had plenty of food and water, and we didn't HAVE to try to get out for anything. We live on a little hill, so we couldn't have gotten out anyway. Hubby only went out to feed and go to the mailbox, the days the mailman could get here. I only ventured to the front and back porches to take a few pictures, a few through the windows!
It's now Sunday, Feb. 21, and it has warmed up enough that the ice and snow has melted quite a bit, but is still treacherous in spots, such as off roads and uphill driveways. It's supposed to start raining tonight, I think, with a chance of more snow to come this week. This stuff is beautiful to look at, but can be treacherous and deadly, especially for us old folks. Be careful!
Here are a few pictures of our yard from this week! It was really that cloudy and dark at mid-day! The sun came out yesterday, making the snow all sparkly and beautiful, but I didn't get any pictures made. Temps today are up in the fifties, and it's a beautiful day for thawing out!
Prayers for all the people without electricity, water, and heat through the below zero temperatures with way more ice and snow than we got!
