Petits Portraits Sketches

First practice sketches on Petits Portraits, a free class on Jeanne Oliver's website (see bottom of post for link), from Renee Mueller's course, Les Femmes.  I used a charcoal pencil, a General Sketch and Wash pencil, a regular pencil, a hint of red and brown watercolor, and a watercolor brush and water in my 5 1/2" x 8" mixed media sketchbook. I think a Stabilo pencil would have worked better, but I couldn't find it. The portraits are supposed to be smaller and much looser than most of these are, more like the first one.

Not trying for perfection here. Just trying to learn a new way of sketching faces! I sketched from imagination on the first and last ones, and I used photos as a reference on the other three, loosely.

I can see where doing these little sketches could be addictive and good for use in art journals! Fun stuff!

Check out Jeanne Oliver's site! She has some great classes, several of them free! jeanneoliver.com
