Letting Go-Mixed Media

This is another project from Jeanne Oliver's class "Creatively Made" on her ning social site. It's the last one from this class, and I used her templates for the bird and hands.

My background on an un-stretched piece of primed canvas, probably about 14" square, using various media effects...

 B

I don't know what I did for this pic to go left, but I can' t get it go back to center. Anyway, the hands and bird have been collaged onto the background...

Some paint added here and there, plus I learned how to stamp on metal to add words to my projects, which I love. Now I need some different sets of letters ...

I added some writing to the background, kind of stream of consciousness, with pencils and white pen...

Close up of background with writing...

The piece turned out a little too somber and dark for me. I used the ads section of an old newspaper torn into pieces for the hands, and because there was a lot of black ink in the paper, they wound up kind of a weird color with the glaze. I usually like things a bit more light and colorful, and I could always go back and change things, but, for now, I'm calling it done and moving on. It's living in my bedroom, thumb tacked to the door, where it's the last thing I see before I go to sleep and the first thing I see when I wake up. My friend thought it was beautiful and I kind of like it myself. :)

I'm now working on another class that follows along after this one, called "The Journey of Letting Go", also with Jeanne.

Learn something new every day! It's an awesome way to live! Happy Arting! :)
