Feather Tree-Digital Painting Practice

I tried a new app for digital painting on my Kindle Fire and this is what I came up with. Nothing extraordinary, but I'm proud of myself for getting it this good!

The original tree photo and gelli print that I merged together somehow!

I had already practiced putting a digital raindrop overlay over my print, but then

I cropped the tree photo and added it to the print, then added digital paint, then another raindrop overlay.

I used layers of an original gelli feather print, an original photo of a tree, cropped, digital paints and tools, and a raindrop overlay merged together into one print in the ArtRage app, for a learning experience. Now if I can just remember how I did it to do a better one!

Fun Stuff! :)

PYH&S 2018-Class 4-Contour Sketching and Negative Painting

Inspired by Tina Berendsohn's class in Paint Your Heart and Soul 2018 (link on sidebar), but I didn't follow her instructions explicitly. I did mine in a 9" x 12" mixed media paper sketchbook, and had a blast! Love her techniques, and the outcome!

Different acrylics applied for background...

My figures emerged from the background and I sketched them in loosely with a reddish Conte' pencil...

Now I wish I'd painted on canvas! This is a warm up practice piece for the second class from Tina later on in the course, but I love it, even if it's not as abstract as it should be, and will definitely be doing more of them!

Quirky Doodle Painting-Bird Girl

Another fun painting in my quirky doodle series! It's painted in my mixed media paper sketchbook, using inktense and colored pencils, stabilo black marks all pencil, black gel pen, gold gel pen, acrylic fluid paint, stenciling (background and dots). Pic of the sketch was already saved to flash drive, and, again, I didn't think to re-photograph it.

The last one I did before my father-in-law passed away, and I haven't gotten back to them yet, or my classes. I'm just feeling drained and totally overwhelmed right now. Hopefully, soon my creative energy will return! :)

Quirky Doodle Painted Still Life

"Who ate my still life?!!!"

The quirky doodle sketch had already been saved to back up disk and deleted off my laptop, and I didn't think to re-photograph it before I  added color.

These are strictly for fun and relaxation, so I tend to paint kind of like a child and don't worry about "rules". I couldn't stay within the lines in my coloring books even when I was a child! :D

This fruit still life sketch is in my 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" mixed media sketchbook on mixed media paper, and was sketched with a black stablio marks all pencil. I used inktense pencils and a water brush to color it in.

I used colored pencils and a black gel pen to finish it. Notice that some of the grapes are missing, thus the title! :D

These are so much fun to do!

I'm Still Here,,,

I haven't painted or posted in several days, and I don't know if anyone missed me or not, but my father-in-law took very ill several days ago and was in ICU and step down for over a week in an out of town hospital. My husband and I stayed with him all that time except for one night that we let his granddaughter stay for us to come home for more clothes and a little rest.

He was then moved to the nursing home/rehab in Waynesboro, his home town, where he was for two and a half days before he passed away. He would have been 94 years old in March, and before this bout of illness, he was still feisty and planning a garden and a fishing trip.

He was layed to rest this past Saturday, February 10.

We have been busy with arrangements, the funeral, company, and all that goes with losing a loved one. And he was very much loved, and will be missed!

He was my 2nd father for almost 48 years, but I knew him about six years before I became his daughter-in-law, when I was about 14 years old.

Now we are trying to get caught up on our rest, among other things, because we are not young either, plus we are praying that we do not catch that awful flu/virus bug that we have been around for days, although I think I am taking a cold or something. Already, at least, four family members that we were with have the flu B/virus since the funeral. Ugh!

So far, in the last ten months, I have lost a first cousin that was more like my sister, my mama, who I was with every day, another first cousin, who I grew up with and was close to, and my husband lost a first cousin that we were both very close to, a second cousin that he was close to, and his dad, plus we both had that awful flu/virus bug during the summer at the same time and were very sick for three weeks. We also had long hospital stays with both parents way away from home. But, thanks to the Lord, we are still here, and no matter how hard we think we're having it, we always meet someone who is going through way worse, and we know that we are blessed.

I already had some pieces finished, before PaPaw got so sick, that I had post drafts started on, so I will be posting those while I try to get back into my painting groove. I am way behind on my classes and homework, so I have some catching up to do while trying to deal with what life is dishing up for us, which is always an adventure, good or bad...
